'Travel Lanka'
- A FREE Monthly Tourist Guide for Sri Lanka

If you want to carry a handy reference guide as you travel through Sri Lanka then we recommend that upon arrival in Sri Lanka try and get hold of the latest copy of 'Travel Lanka', a free monthly information guide, given by the Sri Lankan Tourist Board as a gesture of good will.

'Travel Lanka' – A FREE Monthly Tourist Guide for Sri LankaYou can obtain a copy of 'Travel Lanka' at the Sri Lanka Tourist Office desk in Colombo International Airport or their offices in Colombo or Kandy.

The Travel Lanka guide, first published in 1975 by the Ceylon Tourist Board, has evolved into the present A5 booklet format since 1995. The guide, like www.Holidays-on-Sri-Lanka.com, is packed with vital information as well as general knowledge, reviews and travel topics about Sri Lanka.

After a brief introduction to Sri Lanka the guide profiles the country and has some useful addresses. Tourist information precedes topical articles about Sri Lankan life and festivals.

The Travel Lanka guide has other regular sections mentioning: travel agents, transport, medical services, religious services and information, foreign missions, yoga and meditation and Sri Lanka's museums.

There are regional sections on shopping, accommodation and eating out.

The regular sections about the Sri Lankan National Parks, bus and train travel are helpful too.

We apologise for the repetition of some place or proper names with different spellings, but there is no definitive spelling translation of these words.

We welcome reviews of any Sri Lanka resorts, hotels or visitor attractions. Please see our contributing writer's guidelines.

JeGraNet.com statement - 15 October 2008 - Quote from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office website: "There is a high threat from terrorism in Sri Lanka. Fatal attacks have become more frequent. They have occurred in Colombo and throughout Sri Lanka, including places frequented by expatriate and foreign travellers. Further attacks may occur at any time. There is an increasing risk of British nationals being caught up in an attack". As independent travellers we left Colombo after just 9 days into our planned 6 month stay as a result of a feeling of insecurity, however we are sure that 'package tour' travellers to tourist resorts will probably enjoy a worry free holiday.
